Kenya: Nandi to Build Sh36 Million Offices for Workers

The Nandi county government will spend Sh36 million to build offices for ward and subcounty administrators.

The offices will have digital technology to enhance efficiency, Governor Cleophas Lagat said on Tuesday. He was speaking at Kimaren Secondary School in Aldai during a meeting with local leaders.

Lagat said all administrators will sign a performance contract after completing managerial trainings at the Kenya School of Government and a paramilitary course. He said the administrators will have an allocation in the budget to support them in service delivery. The governor warned them against corruption.

"We want to see a different way of handling public issues," he said. Lagat said all senior county officers will also sign performance contracts and those who will not perform will be fired. Devolution has helped spur development in counties, he said. "My county is constructing a modern Kipchoge Keino Stadium, which had not received any government funding since it was constructed in the 1950s," Lagat said.

The county has opened several feeder roads and is tarmacking major urban roads to improve accessibility and attract investors, he said.
