Tanzania Government Allocates 100 Billion Shillings for Bridge Constructions in Lindi

The Tanzanian Government is investing over 100 billion Tanzanian shillings to upgrade the infrastructure in the Lindi Region, with a strong focus on building and repairing bridges and culverts. This initiative aims to improve transportation networks and address challenges like bridge collapses caused by heavy rains.

The project includes the construction of 10 permanent bridges and three culverts. A notable example is the Somanga-Mtama Bridge, a 60-meter structure supported by 43 pillars, each extending 12 meters deep. To ensure the longevity of these structures, the Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS) has been instructed to conduct regular inspections to prevent damage from severe weather conditions.

This infrastructure development is part of a larger, long-term plan to upgrade the Dar es Salaam–Lindi–Mtwara road to a higher standard, enhancing connectivity and transportation efficiency in the region. This investment underscores the government's commitment to strengthening the region's infrastructure, ensuring safer and more reliable transportation for its citizens.
