Nigeria: FG to Build 105 Housing Units in Seven States

The Federal Government will soon commence the construction of housing units in seven pilot states across the country under it's ministerial housing scheme.

Speaking with newsmen in Akure, the Ondo State capital yesterday during a courtesy call on Governor Olusegun Mimiko, chairman of the Federal Mortgage Bank, Olabisi Ogunjobi, said the programme will soon take off.

He said the arrangement involves the bank building 105 housing units in each of the states and that Ondo State has been picked as one of the beneficiaries.

He said the ministerial housing scheme would be a tripartite arrangement, where state governments would provide land, the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development would provide back stub and the bank would make available the funds. "We want to ensure that everybody owns a house, it is a sign of achievement. It is the most singular investment that any young man below the age 50 can record," he said.
