Nairobi to host major trade exhibition
This is after more than 300 companies from across the globe confirmed participation in the biggest trade exhibition to explore investment opportunities in Kenya and neighbouring countries.
The exhibition targets critical sectors of the economy like building and construction, agriculture, manufacturing, oil, gas and energy, mining, water, auto industry among others.
“The new Government’s priority is to attract investors and create employment for the young people and the exhibition will contribute immensely to this goal,” said Expo Group Africa Exhibition Manager Neville Trindade.
He added the peaceful transition coupled by heightened optimism of continuous positive economic performance has raised investors’ confidence, something that has seen investors from across 32 countries plan to visit Nairobi for the exhibition.
“Global companies are looking for opportunities in Africa, which is a frontier for growth. Kenya’s strategic location in East Africa means the country is a focus of attention,” he noted.
In its manifesto, the Jubilee Alliance Government has promised to mobilise foreign investments totaling $700 million (Sh58 billion) annually and create one million jobs per year.
The exhibition, which will be held at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre, will also showcase latest technologies and innovations that are critical in enabling local companies compete at the same level with their counterparts globally.
It will also create channels for local enterprises to partner with multinationals, thus opening opportunities for them on the global market.
“The exhibition offers local companies the opportunities for partnerships that offer the best route for them to go global,” said Trindade.
