Liberia: Birth of First Agro Radio Station Announced

What could be Liberia’s first radio station dedicated to exclusively broadcasting agriculture and its related programs is under construction in district #3, Grand Gedeh County.

Speaking in an interview with this paper recently, Representative Grant averred that the agro radio station will broadcast programs ranging from promoting agriculture activities to encouraging citizens to invest in the soil.

According to Representative Grant, the agro broadcaster is poised to cover the entire Southeast including, Maryland, River Cess, Grand Gedeh, Sinoe, Grand Kru and River Gee counties and some parts of Nimba and Bong counties.

Though he did not state the actual cost of the radio project, Representative Grant said it would cost him and partners thousands of US Dollars to make the dream a reality.

The Grand Gedeh lawmaker urged his kinsmen and the general Liberian public to undertake agriculture initiatives, which he noted will make Liberia self-sufficient.

Meanwhile, Representative Grant has disclosed that members of the 53rd National Legislature have resolved to keep Bomi County Lawmaker J. Alexander Tyler as Speaker.

In recent times, there have been rumors of a coup plot to unseat Speaker Tyler as was done to Montserrado Representative Edwin Snowe during the early days of the 52nd Legislature.

But Representative Grant argued that the Speaker of the 53rd Legislature has done nothing wrong to warrant his removal or impeachment.

“Removing Speaker Tyler from office is not necessary for now because nobody would get five percent of the current Legislature to support such an endeavor, no matter the quantity of money involved,” Representative Grant concluded.
