FG Approves N3 Billion for New Gwarimpa General Hospital

The Minister of State for FCT, Mrs Olajumoke Akinjide, disclosed this while briefing State House Correspondents on the outcome of the weekly FEC meeting, presided over by President Goodluck Jonathan.
She said that the 220-bed hospital project would serve the inhabitants of the Gwarimpa Housing Estate and environs.
Akinjide said that already the FCT had earmarked two hectares of land at the Gwarimpa district for construction of the project.
According to her, the phase one of the project would include the construction of main hospital block, fencing, residential quarters for medical staff, mortuary and incinerator.
"As you know, the Gwarimpa district houses Gwarimpa estate which is reputed to be the biggest estate in Africa and at present there is no secondary tertiary health care facility to serve that district with its growing population.
"We have, therefore, earmarked a plot in the district for this purpose and it is totally in accordance with Abuja master plan and the contract will be in two phases," she added.
The minister said that the phase two of the project would involve the actual equipping of the hospital, adding that adequate provision had been made in the FCT Statutory budget for the execution of the hospital project which would be completed within 86 weeks.
Akinjide also announced that the Council had approved the revised contract for the Code of Conduct Bureau Headquarters in the Central Business District from N3.5 billion to N8.7 billion.
She said the building is a 13-storey building, comprising four multi-level storey car parks, two of which are subterranean and two are above ground, while nine-storey is for the actual building.
The minister said the project will be completed in 36 months.
