Kenya: Sh50 Billion Nandi Dam Project to Go Ahead

THE construction of a Sh50 billion multi-purpose dam in Nandi county will go on as planned, the Lake Basin Development Authority has said.

Director Alex Mukabwa said feasibility studies of the site have been done and only waiting for the green light from the Treasury. He said opposition from residents will not stop the project.

Mukabwa said the authority has the mandate to implement the project, which is one of the mega flagship projects promised to Kenyans by the Jubilee administration.

He said once completed, the project will serve Trans Nzoia, Vihiga and Kisumu counties. Mukabwa appealed to stakeholders to support the project for its successful implementation.

"It is not fair for some leaders to start derailing the implementation of project," he said. Mukabwa was speaking at Iten Primary School in Elgeyo Marakwet county on Monday during a tree-planting exercise.
