THE government has plans to construct ten water resources in the next financial year in various villages to reduce water problems among the community, Deputy Minister for Water, Dr Binilith Mahenge has said.

Dr Mahenge revealed the information yesterday here during the tenth national assembly. He named the villages to benefit from resources as Mraushi, Masonga, Maswela, Muungano, Mchombe, Nankwanda, Chiwale, Nanjota and Kivukoni.

He was responding to a question by Masasi Member of Parliament special seat (CCM), Ms Mariah Kasembe who wanted to know the number of water resources the government plans to put up in the 2012/13 financial year.

In line with the strategy, the government has plans to reconstruct and improve three water resources namely Lukuledi, Mihima and Namatutwe. The implementation of the plan, according to Dr Mahenge, would take place in the 2013/14 financial year.

On the other hand, Dr Mahenge told the National Assembly that 67 villages have started receiving water under the special programme by the World Bank. "About 67 villages out of 1000 lined to benefit from the programme have already started receiving the water under the programme," he noted.
