Nigeria: Police's New Forensic Lab Foundation Laid in Lagos

Lagos - The police authority yesterday laid the foundation of new Forensic Laboratory that will carter for the need of the force.
 
The new forensic laboratory which is to be constructed at N77 million is to be sited at the Headquarters of the Special Fraud Unit (SFU), Milverton Road, Ikoyi, Lagos.
 
This move is coming 15 years after the forensic department of the force at Alagbon, Close Ikoyi was razed down by fire.
 
The Commissioner of Police, SFU, Tunde Ogunsakin said the construction of the forensic laboratory is to ensure that the force meet up the much needed scientific analyses now that the Federal Government is implementing the 100 per cent cashless transaction policy.
 
Ogunsakin made this disclosure at the foundation laying ceremony of Ibrahim Coomasie building with the Sunday Adewusi complex, Ikoyi.
 
"The foundation laying of Ibrahim Coomasie building is an additional feather to SFU currently with 35 offices to enable staff discharge their duties to combat fraud related offences. In other to meet with international standards, this project has incorporated the establishment of a modern forensic investigation laboratory.
 

"This in no doubt, is to ensure the much needed scientific analyses especially now that the Federal Government is implementing the 100 percent cashless transaction policy" he added.
