Ksh700 Billion to be Invested to Complete Pending Kenyan Road Projects
The Kenyan government will allocate additional Ksh700 billion funds to the Kenyan Roads Projects in order to complete the country's ongoing road development projects. The former president of the Republic of Kenya, Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta, reportedly initiated a number of projects that are still behind schedule, according to the Cabinet Secretary for Roads and Transport, Kipchumba Murkomen.
According to Murkomen, several of the Kenyan road projects should have been finished almost five years ago. This funds would be used only for their completion. The CS added that they are holding talks as a ministry with both domestic and foreign contractors and that they are putting all of their resources into place to guarantee that these contractors continue to be actively involved in the job sites. Additionally, he added that they would not let any contractor leave their site until they had finished the job and given quality work
Murkomen went on to say that his ministry and the National Treasury, on behalf of the government, had allocated some funds that would be used to support the designated contractors' ability to carry out their work without interruption and that they were also making efforts to secure financial assistance to speed up the completion of the roads.
The Cabinet Secretary pledged that his administration is committed to making sure that these significant road projects are completed. Last but not least, the CS of transport announced that all abandoned road projects will be restarted and completed before other new Kenyan Roads Projects were introduced.
