Government to Develop 150 Rail Level Crossings Mid-December
The government decided to upgrade 150 rail level crossings mid-December along with another 171, said Minister of Housing and the official in charge of supervising the Ministry of Transport Tareq Wafiq.
A total of 321 rail crossings will be developed by the end of 2013, added Wafiq after the meeting, held by Prime Minister Hisham Qandeel Saturday.
The meeting focused on reviewing the strategy for upgrading the railway system.
The development of 75 percent of rail crossings was not finalized, he said, adding their upgrade will take several years.
